Day 7 – Yarrawonga & Mulwala

We woke up to the sun rising over the lake.  The view outside is a million bucks…a little deceptive as it is quite “fresh” as the Aussie ‘ s say.

We went for a nice walk by the lake checking out many Australian birds.

The path ended at the playground where the kids got to swing and slide.

After lunch we went minature golfing.  Daddy won??  He was the score keeper. Humm?

Day 6 – Road trip to Yarrawonga

Off to Yarrawonga!   We saw our first Kangaroo…He looked very similar to a deer on the side of the road…only a really long tail!!

Lots of green grassland with roaming sheep.  Then beautiful fields with Canola, glowing bright yellow.

The house we were staying in belongs to Miss B’s aunt.  It was a beautiful 6 bedroom home with a view of Lake Mulwala.  For the first hour Kolby was running thru the house so excited saying, “this is the best house ever” and this is “the biggest house in the whole WORLD.”  His excitement was so fun for everyone.

After settling in the boys played the Xbox while the girls went on an adventure across the bridge to Mulwala, New South Whales.  Our next state!  Auntie J’s Great Grandparents were from this area so we went searching for some family history at the graveyard.

Stopped by the grocery on the way back for Taco Tuesday.

Day 5 – Homework & Shopping

e finished catching up on homework & laundry only to have the clothes almost dry just as the rain came.  We gathered them off the line as quickly as possible.

We also checked out a few shops.  We determined they have gluten and egg free but soy is their happy substitute.  We have found the basics and one brand of pasta that is fairly good.  Good texture and does not fall apart like some at home we tried.

We had Aussie sausages and rice for dinner.  Off to Yarrawonga in the morning.

Day 4 – State Championship Swim Meet

We spent the morning working on catching up homework and laundry.  Only after we had a lesson on how to properly hang our wash as in Australia dryers are not the norm. Thankfully we had a beautiful sunny day to dry our clothes. We were all a little hungry after the time change and breakfasts …

Day 3 – Catching up

We started the day off with some rice milk protien shakes.  Then off to catch up on some school work as it was Friday and we had not done much.  We got busy on three math lessons, some spelling, and the Journals.

Since I was up early I caught up the blog.

Early afternoon we ran out to find so shops.  Picked up a few things and found our way home.  Driving on the “wrong” side is not so bad…unless you’re the passage and you can’t control the car. 😯

The Jet Lag was catching up today.  We were so tired at the end of the day could not keep our eyes open.  Night Night.

Day 2 – Operation Sis

We got to go to school at the Catholic Primary school with Mrs. B and Miss S.  It was the last day before break so they had Aussie football jersey team shirts and a St. Peter’s Got Talent Show.  It was a very small school with about 150 kids.  By Lunch our kids were joining in the fun and games…it was great!

We did some grocery shopping on the way home.  The only real difference I have seen is how they label food and the grocery is usually in a shopping mall, don’t find that at home.

At home the adventure truly began as sis climbed off the trampoline only to slice her head.  Got an early start at checking out the Aussie healthcare.

Day 1 – Keep Daddy Awake

We did not do to bad with our Jet lag.  The night flight was a great way to adjust to the time.  We just need to go to bed early and wake up a bit earlier in the morning.

Our attempt to keep everyone awake was…COSTCO.  Yes, Melbourne has a Costco and yes it is just like home.  The only difference was the cool elevator for carts to get to the covered car park and don’t forget to validate your parking ticket.

We had our favorite dinner of burgers and chips then off to bed early.

That is a big big ocean!

We had two really good flights.  The first to LA was nice, short, smooth flying.  The kids were excited and got to enjoy some fun window views. When we got to LA the airport was huge we had no idea where we were or were to go so we were glad we had lots of …
