Day 20 – Hanging Rock & Mt Macedon
Ready. Set. National Park.
What can I say we LOVE national parks! Exploring Melbourne has been quite the experience for all of us. It is the largest city any of us have visited and it comes with some interesting tricks…like right hand turns from left lane only…you say what? Yes, I said that right!!! From the wrong side of the road none the less, haha.
We needed a stretch your leg kinda day so we headed out towards the bush. Hanging Rock is not to far from the big city. It was a nice hike to the top of the beautiful rock formations.
We hurried back down the hill as the fire we saw in the distance as a small plume was now quickly growing and coming towards us it was spreading quickly all I could think about was how fast the fire spread on the video I had seen on Facebook. All that was between us and the fire was a valley filled with trees. Not even knowing the area we thought we better get going. Know one else seemed to concerned about the fire or as if they even noticed but on we went after getting our icy poles (popsicle) on to Mt Macedon that was if the fire was not in our way.
On the way to Mt Macedon we ran across some local fire fighters…they helped direct us in the right direction and away from the fire.
